Buena Park Considers Expanding Rental Inspections

Posted By: Chip Ahlswede Advocacy Updates,

On April 25th at 6:00 PM the Buena Park City Council will consider a dramatic expansion of their existing rental inspection program to now include:

  • Every rental property in the city
  • Inspected every single year
  • Paying $110 per unit fee to the city

Without any deep investigation by the council into:

  • Data demonstrating concentrations of code enforcement violations
  • Data identifying the types of properties impacted
  • Information about the total cost to the city or the property owners to implement this program

What's more, they haven't considered:

  • The impacts of the COVID moratoriums on rent increases or evictions
  • The limiations on rent increases as a result of AB 1482
  • The backdue rent owed by countless tenants
  • The impacts of inflation on property owners in the form of insurance, maintenance, labor, and interest
  • The fact that this fee will further set these tenants back as rents are raised to address the increased costs

Which is why we need ALL AVAILABLE MULTIFAMILY PROFESSIONALS to come to the:

APRIL 25th BUENA PARK CITY COUNCIL MEETING AT 6:00 PM

6650 Beach Blvd. Buena Park, 90621
