Reasons to OPPOSE PAR 1111 & 1121 -
- Higher costs for homeowners, renters, and small businesses
- Skyrocketing energy bills
- Adds strain to aging electrical grid and infrastructure
- Puts public safety and health at risk due to fires, impacts on electrical grid
- Costly retrofit and electric panel upgrades necessary for older properties (estimates range between $35,000 and $75,000 per unit)
- Extended waiting period to get permits and approvals for onsite construction, electrical lines, upgraded electrical panels, and other infrastructure.
- Risk of tenant displacement for extended periods of time to meet these requirements.
- No “interim solution” where property owners can replace failed equipment until they can get contractors hired, plans approved, and permits granted - meaning additional displacement and costs for property owners.
