Anaheim to Enforce Host Liability Provisions for Independence Day Holiday Fireworks Enforcement
In preparation for the Independence Day Holiday, the City of Anaheim is reminding rental property owners, management companies, onsite managers, and other housing providers operating in the city that it continues to prioritize proactive fireworks enforcement to protect the health, safety, and quality of life of residents and neighborhoods.
Under the Anaheim Municipal Code "host liability" provisions, responsibility for illegal fireworks activity may extend to homeowners, business owners, operators, and other persons in control of private property where illegal fireworks are knowingly allowed to occur.
Anaheim rental housing providers should familiarize themselves with the law as well as communicate with their renters to help prevent violations and reduce the neighborhood impacts associated with illegal fireworks activity.
Please note the following important reminders:
- Illegal fireworks are always prohibited throughout the City of Anaheim.
- Safe and Sane fireworks are only permitted on July 4.
- No fireworks of any kind are permitted in Anaheim Hills at any time.
- Property owners, operators, or responsible parties may be subject to administrative citations when illegal fireworks activity occurs on property under their control and they knowingly permit the activity.
